BigHit Music sent fans of BTS heartthrob Jimin into a frenzy when they confirmed the hunk’s past relationship with actress Song Da Eun. However, instead of putting an end to all the speculation and buzz around the star’s personal life, this confirmation has only ignited fresh debate and anger within the fandom.
Jimin’s agency issues statement
The agency issued a statement on August 31 after weeks of online chatter and videos allegedly showing Jimin leaving an elevator at an apartment linked to Song Da Eun. The clip prompted BigHit to swing into action and issue a statement on the alleged romance that had some debating whether or not the two were actually an item. Confirming that the relationship had taken place in the past, they revealed that the romance had ended, just as Jimin’s fans speculated. The statement read, “Our company has refrained from making any statements until now in order to respect Jimin’s private life as well as the individual being mentioned in relation to it. However, as speculative reports concerning the artist’s personal life have continued to surface and groundless rumours have been circulating, we find it unavoidable to clarify the bare minimum facts.“

Without naming the actress, the statement went on to read, “The artist and the individual in question were once acquainted with mutual affection in the past, but that was several years ago, and they are not in a relationship at present. We ask that you refrain from making reckless speculations about their private lives. We earnestly request that you also refrain from any actions that could cause harm to the individual who is being mentioned alongside the artist.“While the clarification offered closure on years of rumours, that reportedly sparked off vicious trolling and even allegations of stalking, the reaction online has been rather mixed. Some fans welcomed the singer’s acknowledgement of the romance, however, expressed scepticism, claiming the statement lacked directness and was “unprofessionally worded.”
