Bhushan Kumar reacts to ‘Border 3’ buzz, confirms Sunny Deol-led franchise will move forward with director Anurag Singh |
The war drama ‘Border 2’ is off to a flying start at the box office with the film raking in over Rs 200 crore in just its first extended weekend. With all the buzz around the film, coupled with the good word of mouth, producer Bhushan Kumar has seemingly confirmed that a third film may also be on the cards. ‘Border 2’, touted to be a spiritual sequel to the 1997 film, may have taken almost 3 decades to return, however, as per the latest reports, a third part is on the cards, with director Anurag Singh set to return.
Kumar, in an interview, discussed the success of the latest film, ‘Border 2’. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he revealed that he and director Singh were initially collaborating on a different film before ‘Border 2’ and now that the project has release, they will get the project back on track. He then went on to add, “Now is the time for that. The next film will be on those lines. Then, we will return to Border.”After teasing ‘Border 3’, as per the report, he went on to confirm, “We are doing a joint venture with his company and my company. He’ll be directing, and it will be something new. Border 3 will happen in due course.”Giving the director due credit for the film’s success, he shared, “Anurag has worked so hard to rebuild it. If you bring something back after almost 30 years and it is getting so much love, we will definitely take it forward.” ‘Border 2’ brings back Sunny Deol in the lead with an all-new ensemble cast featuring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty along with Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh and Medha Rana.The film is currently ruling the domestic box office. As per the latest report on Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 59 crore on the Republic Day holiday. With this, the film’s four-day total has hit an impressive Rs 180 crore net. Meanwhile, the film’s gross collections have stormed past the Rs 200 crore mark, earning an estimated Rs 212 crore.
