Alyy Khan recalls Shah Rukh Khan breaking camera equipment worth Rs 2.5 crore on Don 2 set: 'SRK exchanged a look with Priyanka Chopra and…'

Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar’s Don and Don 2 became cult classics, loved for their mix of romance, drama, and thrilling action. Shah Rukh’s charm and experience gave the character of Don a unique touch. But interestingly, that same confidence once cost Farhan Akhtar Rs 2.5 crore.
The Incident That Cost Rs 2.5 Crore
British-Pakistani actor Alyy Khan, who acted with Shah Rukh Khan in Don 2, shared an incident where SRK accidentally damaged camera equipment worth Rs 2.5 crore. During a car scene in Berlin, Shah Rukh, confident in his driving, slightly missed his mark. This small timing error caused the expensive mishap, even as Farhan Akhtar hid in the backseat to avoid being caught on camera. The scene also featured Priyanka Chopra and included Shah Rukh’s famous line, “Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, naamumkin hai,” before speeding off.First Take Perfect, Second Take Disaster
Alyy Khan shared that Shah Rukh Khan got the scene perfect in the first take. But during the second take, things went wrong. Speaking to Dawn News, Alyy said that as Priyanka stopped the car and Shah Rukh delivered his line, a stunt car—meant to reverse and stop—crashed into them because Shah Rukh missed his mark by just a bit.
Alyy Khan explained that Shah Rukh Khan’s confidence led to an accident that caused a significant loss. During the scene, Shah Rukh was slightly late in making a turn, which caused a stunt car to crash into their vehicle. While Shah Rukh quickly checked if everyone was okay, the damage to the camera equipment resulted in a loss of €300,000 (Rs 2.5 crore), all of which was lost in an instant.

Shah Rukh Accepts Responsibility for the Mistake
Despite the costly mistake, Shah Rukh Khan took full responsibility for it, acknowledging that his overconfidence led to the mishap. In a behind-the-scenes video from the film, he admitted that his mistake was embarrassing, describing it as one of the most humiliating moments he had ever experienced on set.
Don 2’s Success Despite Setback
Don 2, a joint production of Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, had an estimated budget of Rs 76 crore. The film turned out to be a huge success, earning Rs 210.35 crore worldwide at the box office.
