Alia Bhatt, a top Bollywood earner, eyes Housewife with ‘Drishyam 2’ director Abhishek Pathak after ‘Alpha’ and ‘Love & War’. She plays a wife facing marital woes, co-producing with Eternal Sunshine. Rajkummar Rao may lead opposite her. Shooting starts post-‘Drishyam 3’ in late 2026.

Alia Bhatt ranks among Bollywood’s top-grossing stars, boasting an exciting roster of films slated for 2026. She’s set to headline a high-stakes espionage drama ‘Alpha’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s epic ‘Love & War’. With audiences buzzing in anticipation, reports indicate she’s already eyeing her following gig, this time partnering with ‘Drishyam 2’ director Abhishek Pathak.

According to Variety India, Alia is teaming up with Abhishek Pathak for a love story drama called ‘Housewife’. The actress plays a housewife in a movie about a husband and wife facing real-life issues. The report also says Rajkummar Rao is being considered as the male, but he hasn’t signed yet. If all goes well, this will be their first film together.

The actress will co-produce the film under her Eternal Sunshine Productions banner, alongside Abhishek Pathak’s Panorama Studios. Production is slated to begin in August–September 2026, after Pathak finishes ‘Drishyam 3’, the concluding chapter of the Ajay Devgn-led ‘Drishyam’ series.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt was last seen in Vasan Bala’s prison-escape thriller ‘Jigra’, and she has a busy lineup coming up. She will appear in a bold, action-packed role in ‘Alpha’, which also features Sharvari and Bobby Deol. She is reuniting with her ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ‘Love & War’, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal as co-leads. On top of that, Alia is in talks for more 2027 projects, like Maddock Films’ horror-comedy ‘Chamunda’.

Rajkummar Rao’s projects

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao has some exciting projects lined up. He will lead the offbeat Netflix comedy ‘Toaster’ under his KAMPA Films banner, opposite Sanya Malhotra. He is also preparing for a key role as public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in Avinash Arun’s courtroom biopic. Reportedly, he is teaming up with Manoj Bajpayee for another film too.
