Over 5k bottles of cough syrup seized, 20 arrested | Bhubaneswar News
Sambalpur: Twenty people were arrested and 5,100 bottles of cough syrup worth Rs 15 lakh and Rs 40,000 in cash was seized from them in Baraipali here on Tuesday. Five of them had gone to Cuttack and were bringing the cough syrup in a van to be sold in slums of Sambalpur during Diwali, said superintendent of police (Sambalpur) Mukesh Bhamoo. They were nabbed by a police team lead by OIC of Baraipali police station Radhakanta Barik at Masinkata Chowk.The five accused are Lokesh Pradhan (30), Mahindra Kisan (25), Prabhat Bhoi (23), Amod Karali (32) and Manish Singh (27), all from Sambalpur. They had links with 15 other accused, who supplied the drugs to different areas in the city. Police suspect that the source of these drugs can be Kolkata or Raipur.
