Varun Dhawan’s ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar’ just missed crossing Rs 50 crore mark | Hindi Movie News

Varun Dhawan has been one of the most loved new-age actors in the business having delivered films like Badlapur, Judwaa 2, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. But post Kalank, he has had a series of unsuccessful ventures at the box office. Even his earnest attempts with Baby John and Citadel: Honey Bunny didn’t get the acceptance as expected from the audience. In an attempt to woo his loyal audience base back he ventured into known territory of rom-coms with Shashank Khaitan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor paired opposite him. The film in its first week earned Rs 41.10 crore as per Sacnilk, its chances at the box office were severely impacted by Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 which also released on the same day. And cashing on its sequel status- the film in Hindi market has minted over Rs 140 crore while its total collection stands at Rs 438.65 crore.Sunny Sanskari’s weak run continued in the second weekend as well where on Friday it added Rs 2.25 crore to its tally . On Saturday it witnessed a good jump of over 44 % where it collected Rs 3.25 crore but on Sunday the film dipped to earn just Rs 3 crore, thereby taking the overall 2nd weekend collection of the film to Rs 8.50 crore and overall collection of the film to Rs 49.60 crore. The Varun starrer just missed the Rs 50 crore mark by Rs 40 lakh. With its weekend collection the film was able to cross the collection of October ( Rs 45.6 crore) But going by the trend the film is expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark by Monday end and it is expected to end its theatrical run between Rs 52 to Rs 55 crore mark. With this the film would be able to go past Varun’s other films like Main Tera Hero ( Rs 50.96 crore ) and Badlapur ( Rs 50.09 crore) Varun will now be seen in JP Dutta and Anurag Singh’s Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty and he also has Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai with his father David Dhawan which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.
