Bihar polls: Tej Pratap Yadav unfollows brother Tejashwi Yadav on X; announces candidature from Mahua | Patna News

NEW DELHI: Tensions within the RJD family have surfaced ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, with Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, unfollowing his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav, on X. He had earlier unfollowed his elder sisters, Misa Yadav and Hema Yadav, and now follows only five accounts, including three family members: his father Lalu Prasad Yadav, his mother Rabri Devi, and his sister Raj Lakshmi Yadav. Tej Pratap, who leads the newly formed Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), announced that his party will release its candidate list for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections on October 13, an event expected to have significant political implications in the state. “I will declare my candidates the day after tomorrow. Parso jordaar ailaan hoga (Day after tomorrow big announcements will be made)…I will contest from Mahua,” the JJD founder said. When asked if he is in talks with other parties, he added, “Everyone is coming to meet me.” Tej Pratap was expelled from the RJD and the Yadav family for a serious breach of moral and social values following controversy over a Facebook post in which he claimed to be in a long-term relationship with a woman. Netizens recalled his marital dispute, which had previously made headlines. Tej Pratap had maintained that his account was hacked. He had married Aishwarya, granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai. However, she left his house within a few months, alleging she was driven out by her husband and in-laws. Their divorce petition is currently pending in family court. After his expulsion, Tej Pratap formed the JJD. The Mahua constituency, from which he plans to contest, is currently held by RJD leader Mukesh Kumar Raushan. The first phase of Bihar Assembly polls is scheduled for November 6, with the second phase on November 11 and vote counting on November 14. The contest will largely be between the NDA, led by the BJP and JD(U), and the INDIA bloc, led by Tejashwi Yadav. The INDIA bloc aims to unseat chief minister Nitish Kumar. Meanwhile, JJD faces competition not only from established parties but also from Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, which has declared its intent to contest all 243 seats in Bihar.(With agency inputs)
