Why is Trump depicted as the demon?

“We made this because of the fifty percent tariff that he gave us, our Modi, who thought of Donald Trump as our friend, has betrayed Modi and our India, we have given him an equal. So we have made him a demon. When we were inaugurated yesterday, the people of our neighborhood and the people around us are getting a very good response. We have received a good response from them. We see him as a demon because he stabbed India from behind,” Pratik, one of the members of Khagra Crematorium Ghat Durga Puja Committee, said, as reported by India Today. So, we protested symbolically by depicting him as the evil demon,” Raju Thakur, the Puja Committee secretary, told Deccan Chronicle. However, the artist Ashim Pal has dismissed the claims. “It is nothing but a coincidence,” he said.

Who is Mahishasura?

In Hindu mythology, Mahishasura is depicted as a deceitful and powerful demon, who is part-man and part-buffalo. Blessed by Lord Brahma with a boon that no man or god could kill him, Mahishasura gained dominion over the three worlds. The demon unleashed chaos, and even the Gods stood helpless. When his tyranny became unbearable, Lord Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu created Goddess Durga. Maa Durga battled the demon for nine days and won. Durga Puja celebrates this victory of good over evil.
