Leonardo DiCaprio reveals 'little kids' praised ‘Wolf of Wall Street’; asked them 'How old are you?'

Leonardo DiCaprio has seen it all in Hollywood, from Titanic fever to Oscar wins, memes and more, but even he gets puzzled by some fan interactions. In a recent chat with Variety alongside his ‘One Battle After Another’ co-star Benicio del Toro, DiCaprio revealed that younger audiences – kids barely out of elementary school – sometimes tell him they loved his R-rated classic ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’

When pre-teens praise adult films

DiCaprio admitted he finds it a little baffling. “Some little kids come up to me and go, ‘I loved The Wolf of Wall Street.’ Like, you saw that? How old are you?” he said, laughing. The 2013 film, directed by Martin Scorsese, is packed with over-the-top scenes, drug-fueled orgies, stock market fraud, yachts, and chaotic misadventures. It’s one of the most adult-oriented movies of DiCaprio’s career, and certainly not aimed at pre-teens.

Reflecting on R-rated movies

Despite the shock, DiCaprio understands the world has changed. With YouTube, TikTok, and streaming platforms, kids today encounter films and clips much earlier than he did growing up. “I saw a lot of R-rated movies when I was young,” he reflected, acknowledging that exposure to adult content isn’t entirely new, but it’s more common now.

From chaos to epic storytelling

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ that introduced audiences to Margot Robbie, earned over $400 million worldwide, and received five Academy Award nominations.

Looking ahead

Next up for audiences is ‘One Battle After Another,’ Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest epic, which hits theatres on Friday. With DiCaprio once again at the center of a high-stakes story, it’s clear his films continue to capture attention across generations.
