Despite her packed schedule, Sharmiela Mandre managed to squeeze in a quick trip to Dubai on Sunday to witness the legendary India-Pakistan match firsthand.
“It was my first time watching a match live in a foreign country, and the fact that it was an India-Pakistan game made it even more special,” she shares with a smile. The actor, who had an exclusive invite to the event, admits she would have traveled anywhere in the world to witness it live.
“I’m a huge cricket fan and have watched many matches back home, including RCB games. But experiencing this on foreign soil, surrounded by thousands of Indians cheering for our team, was something entirely different. I finally understood why people love watching these games abroad—it’s about coming together for your country and being part of that electrifying chorus screaming ‘India, India!’ It’s a feeling that words can’t quite capture—you have to be there to understand it. And, of course, the icing on the cake was India’s victory. The energy, the excitement—it was absolutely unreal. We celebrated that night marking a historic win in the best way possible,” she says.
