Tourism ministry conducts training for hotel, homestay owners to enhance tourist experience in Varanasi

VARANASI: The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Tourism and the district administration, involved major hospitality chains like Taj, Radisson, Hilton, and The Clarks, as well as online companies like MakeMyTrip, Airbnb, and Agoda, to conduct dedicated training sessions for around 500 hotel and homestay owners to enhance the tourist experience in Varanasi with better and professional services on Thursday.The training sessions were attended by the state’s minister of AYUSH, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Dayashankar Mishra, and former minister and MLA Neelkanth Tiwari.Minister Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’ addressed the hotel and homestay owners, emphasising their responsibility to treat tourists visiting Kashi with respect and excellence, encouraging them to return. He highlighted the unprecedented influx of tourists following the construction of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. He said that the govt has undertaken significant development projects such as building wider roads, bridges, hospitals, flyovers, new ghats, ropeways, inland water transport, trains like Vande Bharat, and airport expansion, equipping Varanasi with modern amenities. This led to remarkable progress in tourism. He also reflected on Kashi’s glorious historical past, describing it as the world’s oldest living city and a hub of salvation, spirituality, mythology, history, knowledge, and cultural heritage.Former minister and MLA Neelkanth Tiwari highlighted the importance of providing guests with the traditional hospitality experience of Kashi, stressing that it is the responsibility of all hotel and homestay owners to offer this authentic experience. He emphasised the need to be aware of the rich stories of Kashi and Sarnath, as well as ensuring standards in cleanliness, health, and customer relations.
