Panic at petrol pump: Staff shot for refusing fuel to helmetless youths in Madhya Pradesh | Bhopal News

BHOPAL: A petrol pump worker was shot and injured in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning after he refused to fill petrol for two helmetless youths, in compliance with district administration orders.The incident took place at Lodhi Petrol Pump on National Highway-719.In most districts of Madhya Pradesh, collectors have made it mandatory for petrol pump operators to deny fuel to riders not wearing helmets, as part of road safety enforcement. Acting on this rule, the pump staff refused to fill petrol for the two youths, triggering an argument.Enraged, the youths went back home, picked up a licensed gun and an illegal pistol, and returned to the pump. CCTV footage shows one of them opening fire repeatedly with an illegal weapon while the other wielded the licensed gun.The sudden firing created panic among customers and employees. A pump worker sustained a bullet injury and was rushed to the district hospital before being referred to Gwalior for further treatment.Barohi police station in-charge Atul Bhadauria and his team reached the spot immediately. Police said the accused have been identified through CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts and will be arrested soon.
