Dressed in a beautiful yellow kurta, Varun Dhawan made his way through the sea of devotees at Mumbai’s iconic Lalbaugcha Raja. Despite the heavy crowds, he remained composed as he waited for his turn to step onto the stage and seek Bappa’s blessings. The actor visited the pandal as part of the Bombay Times Blockbuster Bappas initiative. Talking about his experience, he says, “It was an incredible experience at Lalbaugcha Raja. The energy, people, positivity, shraddha and passion are always on another level. That is exactly why I love coming here, to seek blessings for peace and prosperity for all.”Ask Varun about his fondest memories of the festival, and he reminisces, “My fondest memories of the Ganpati festival are eating modaks with my trainer, Prashant Sawant, in his gym. Those would be my cheat moments. I would be sitting in the gym after Bappa was set up and eat modaks. It was a lot of fun as we would play Ganpati songs.”

‘I loved hearing stories of Bappa from my grandmother while growing up’Varun has always felt a deep bond with Lord Ganesha, a connection that even finds its way into his films. “I always had a very strong connection with Bappa. He has always been there in so many of my films, like Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2 and ABCD 2. I have had songs on Bappa in my films (Suno Ganpati Bappa Morya in Judwaa 3 and Hey Ganaraya in ABCD 2). We would shoot the songs barefoot, and there was a different kind of energy while filming them. I loved hearing stories of Bappa from my grandmother while growing up.”‘I am excited to celebrate the festival with my daughter Lara’This year, the festival holds even more meaning for the actor, who is gearing up for his upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. He says, “I am excited to celebrate the festival with Lara. We released Sunny Sanskari’s teaser yesterday, when I visited Lalbaugcha Raja for his blessings. This means a lot to me. I feel a lot of peace every time I am here.”
