‘When confronted and destroyed!’ Donald Trump links Hamas’ fate to hostage return; cites ending ‘6 wars in 6 months’

US President Donald Trump on Monday said the return of remaining hostages held by Hamas would only be possible if the militant group is “confronted and destroyed,” while also highlighting his own record on conflict resolution and security.Signalling support for Israel’s push into Gaza City, Trump wrote on Truth Social: “We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed!!! The sooner this takes place, the better the chances of success will be.”The US President pointed to his past actions, claiming credit for the release of hostages and for bringing an end to multiple conflicts. “Remember, I was the one who negotiated and got hundreds of hostages freed and released into Israel (and America!). I was the one who ended 6 wars, in just 6 months. I was the one who OBLITERATED Iran’s Nuclear facilities. Play to WIN, or don’t play at all! Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump added. His remarks coincided with the arrival of Qatar’s Prime Minister and foreign minister Mohammed Al Thani in Cairo on Monday for talks with Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad. The discussions cantered on Israel’s stance regarding a revised Egyptian ceasefire proposal, while Hamas is expected to deliver a formal response following internal consultations.
