NEW DELHI: At least 30 people were injured after firecrackers exploded at a football ground near Areekode in Kerala’s Malappuram district on Monday, police said.
According to Areekode police, the incident occurred just before the start of a football match when firecrackers were set off as part of the event. However, the crackers misfired and spread into the ground, where spectators were seated.
The injured were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Police confirmed that no serious injuries have been reported so far.
