Woman dies after car veers off Mumbai-Delhi Expressway, turns turtle

Gurgaon: A 46-year-old Delhi woman lost her life and two family members were injured when their i20 car veered off the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway near Agon village in Ferozpur Jhirka and plunged into a roadside pit.
The accident, possibly caused by speeding or mechanical failure, occurred while the family was returning to Shahdara after a temple visit in Rajasthan.
“The accident occurred around 3.30pm near Agon village. Prima facie, it appears like the car veered off the road and overturned. There was no curve on the road, and other vehicles were not involved in the accident. Speeding or some mechanical failure may have led to the accident. We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the accident,” Ferozpur Jhirka SI Virender Singh said.
Police rushed to the spot after passersby alerted them and shifted the injured to a private hospital for treatment. The mangled car, which fell nearly 30m away from the railing, was removed from the site using a crane and moved to the police station.
Reena Jain succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gurgaon on Sunday night. Her husband Anil Jain (48) and son Aditya Jain (19) also sustained injuries.
“Both of them were shifted to Pushpanjali Hospital in Delhi for further treatment on Monday by the family. Their condition is stable,” the SI said.
No FIR has been registered. On Monday morning, Ferozpur Jhirka police initiated proceedings under BNSS Section 194. Reena’s body was handed to her family after the autopsy.
