2 held for abducting truck driver, fleeing with vehicle in Gurgaon | Gurgaon News
Gurgaon: A truck driver’s routine water break took an ugly turn when four men allegedly ambushed him, tied him up and stole his vehicle, which was carrying steel sheets worth Rs 18 lakh, in IMT Manesar. The accused later abandoned him on the KMP Expressway before fleeing the scene.
According to police, two of the four accused were arrested on Sunday, while the other two are still at large.
The incident happened around 1am on Feb 12, when Aabid, the driver, arrived at an auto components company in Sector 3, IMT Manesar, to unload steel sheets.
“I parked my truck and went to get water from a nearby shop. Suddenly, I heard my engine start. I rushed back and saw a man trying to drive away my truck. When I tried to stop him, three others attacked me,” he said.
The accused overpowered Aabid, tied his hands and legs and blindfolded him before abandoning him on the expressway. Somehow, he managed to free himself and sought help from a local street vendor, who helped him contact his employer and the police.
Based on his complaint, IMT Manesar police registered a case under sections 140 (3) (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person), 3 (5) (common intention), 309 (4) (robbery, punishment for robbery), and 309 (6) (robbery, voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the BNS on Feb 12.
Following an intense investigation, the Farrukhnagar crime branch tracked down two of the accused, Tarun and Kulwinder Singh, on Sunday at the Farrukhnagar bypass road. Both men, with prior criminal records, confessed to the robbery and admitted to other crimes in Punjab and Gurgaon.
A police spokesperson confirmed, “We have recovered the stolen truck along with 14 boxes of steel sheets worth Rs 18 lakh. The accused have theft and snatching cases in Punjab and a robbery in Gurgaon. They are in police remand as we probe their network and hunt for their accomplices.”
The investigation is ongoing to nab the remaining accused.
