BYD Sealion 7 launched in India at Rs 48.9 lakh: Two battery packs, 11 airbags and more

BYD India has launched the BYd Sealion 7 electric SUV in the Indian market. The e-SUV is offered in two variants – Premium and Performance priced at Rs 48.9 lakh and Rs 54.9 lakh respectively, ex-showroom. The Sealion 7 was first revealed at the 2025 Bharat Mobility expo and the brand started accepting bookings on the same day.

Interested customers can book the e-SUV online or by visiting their nearest BYD dealership. The booking amount is set at Rs 70,000 and BYD is offering a 7-year/1.5 lakh km warranty, a free 7 kW home charger for the first 70 buyers, and will match the ₹70,000 booking amount. The first 70 units of the Sealion 7 will be delivered starting March 7.

Gets two battery pack options

As mentioned before, the BYD Sealion will be offered in two variants – Premium and Performance. Both variants are powered by an 82.56 kWh battery pack, the Premium variant gets a single motor with an RWD setup and puts out 313 PS and 380 mm torque, it has a claimed range of 567 km on one full charge. The Performance variant on the other hand gets dual electric motors with AWD and puts out 530 PS of power and 630 nm torque, it has a claimed range of 542 km on one full charge.
The BYD Sea Lion 07 is based on the company’s e-platform 3.0 and BYD says that the new EV draws inspiration from sea lions jumping into the water to create a distinctive five-spoke design. In terms of design, the EV looks very similar to the Seal sedan and gets sharp lines with multiple cuts and creases. It features angular headlamps with L-shaped extensions which house LED DRLs and it also gets vents and large air intakes. On the sides, the EV gets sharp creases with aerodynamically designed alloy wheels.

It also gets flush door handles and prominent cladding on wheel arches. At the rear, it gets a sleek roof-mounted spoiler and sleek connecting LED taillamps. It also gets a second lip spoiler that sits at the edge of the tailgate. The EV measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height. Overall rear design looks very similar to the Atto 3.

Inside, the Sealion 7 is equipped with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional features include electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker audio system, a head-up display, 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS features such as blind spot detection, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and more.
