DIG South Asad Raza shared several chilling clues that indicate her demise took place around October 2024, as Geo TV also reported. “The expiry dates of food and drinks in the refrigerator are from September 2024,” Raza said while speaking to reporters in Karachi.He added, “The last outgoing and incoming activity on her phone also dates back to October 2024. Both SIMs in her phone have been inactive since then. Electricity to the apartment was disconnected around the same time due to non-payment of bills.”Her last digital footprintsDIG Raza also revealed haunting details about Humaira’s last days. “The last text message on Humaira’s phone was from an online ride-hailing service, and there had been no further digital communication since then. Her last WhatsApp ‘last seen’ was on October 7, while a message sent to her by stylist Danish Maqsood on October 20 remains unread.” It is these tiny digital traces that helped police piece together a rough timeline of her final moments.Post-mortem is yet to confirm causePolice surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, who conducted the preliminary post-mortem, said the body was in such an advanced state of decomposition that the exact cause of her demise could not be determined straight away. “We have collected DNA and chemical samples. It would be premature to speculate until those tests are complete,” she explained.Foul play is not ruled out yetWhile there are no immediate signs of external injuries, DIG Raza stressed that foul play has not been ruled out. He said the police were waiting for toxicology and forensic reports to learn more. He also pointed out that the apartment next door had been empty, which may explain why neighbors did not notice any suspicious smell or activity for so many months.
