Madhya Pradesh: 21-year-old raped in a moving sleeper bus in Maihar district

BHOPAL: A 21-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a moving sleeper bus in Maihar district. As per the complaint, the incident took place on June 26 in the Amarpatan area of Maihar district. The survivor, however, reported the matter at Rewa City Kotwali police station on July 3. A case was registered on zero and was transferred to Amarpatan police station in Maihar district. Police in Amarpatan have started the investigations.In her complaint, the survivor told police that she used to talk to a person who is her brother-in-law as per extended family. On the afternoon of June 26, she reached Rewa, and she, along with the accused, boarded a train to Hyderabad, said police. However, their kin came to know about it and pressurised both of them over the phone to return home. Thus, they alighted the train at Katni railway station and took a sleeper bus to Rewa. When the bus reached near Amarpatan in Maihar at around 10.30 pm, the accused raped her in the bus and later alighted near Amarpatan, threatening that he would make the video of the incident viral if she spoke to anyone about it, the survivor informed police in her complaint. She then went to Rewa, and as she was unwell, she was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. Later, when she felt well, she told her elder sister, who subsequently informed kin, and then the matter was reported to police.“We received the FIR that was registered on zero at Rewa and started our investigations. The accused is yet to be arrested. In the meantime, we are also finding out the bus in which the incident is said to have taken place. All aspects of the complaint are being investigated,” Amarpatan police station incharge, KP Tripathi, told TOI.
