Maa Box Office Collection Day 4: Kajol starrer sees huge drop in collections on first Monday; misses Rs 20 crore mark |

After a strong start at the domestic box office, Kajol’s horror-thriller Maa experienced a significant dip in collections on its first Monday. Directed by Vishal Furia, the film had gained momentum over its opening weekend, but early estimates now suggest that it earned only Rs 2.25 crore on Day 4, bringing its total India net collection to an estimated Rs 19.90 crore.Released on Friday, Maa opened with Rs 4.65 crore, surpassing pre-release trade projections. The film saw solid growth on Saturday, earning Rs 6 crore, followed by Rs 7 crore on Sunday. However, Monday’s performance marked a sharp decline of nearly 68% from the previous day, a common trend for genre films that rely heavily on weekend footfalls.According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Maa had a three-day total of Rs 17.65 crore, but the Monday dip now raises questions about the film’s long-term box office prospects.Maa, written by Saiwyn Quadras and helmed by Lapachhapi and Chhori director Vishal Furia, stars Kajol in a bold new avatar alongside Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma, and Ronit Roy. The film follows the story of a mother who transforms into Goddess Kali to break a terrifying curse rooted in fear, blood, and betrayal. The project marks the actress’ first major theatrical release since Salaam Venky (2022). Speaking ahead of the release, the actress said, “I am very excited. My film is releasing in theatres after a long time and I am extremely happy about it.” She added, “I had never thought I would do a horror film, but here we are. I am extremely proud of this film.”The next few days will be critical in determining whether the film can cross key box office milestones, including the Rs 25 crore mark.
