BENGALURU: Sex education gone wrong, or yet another tale of gruesome parental abuse of a child – with a twist? Bizarre as it may sound, a class 9 girl from the city has accused her mother of sexually harassing and assaulting her under the pretext of teaching her a lesson or two on how to handle the post-nuptial physical intimacy with her would-be husband. The mother has denied the allegation.The girl, a student at a private school in north Bengaluru, lives with her mother, 45, and an elder sister, while the father lives separately owing to differences with the mother, sources said.The girl has complained that her ordeal has been on for a year now.“We are yet to record the victim’s statement. Meanwhile, her mother was detained for questioning. She denied the allegation, claiming that she had beaten and scolded her daughter in the past, but never subjected her to sexual harassment or assault,” police sources said. Girl opened up about abuse to counsellor in school: Cops The shocking incident of alleged sexual harassment came to light when a woman counsellor, who frequently visits the school where the victim studies, came out with this startling revelation. She said during an interaction with the girl at her school earlier this week, the latter opened up about her plight, investigators said.The counsellor then approached police and filed a complaint Saturday, following which, a case was booked under Pocso Act.A woman police officer in plain clothes, accompanied by the counsellor, visited the girl’s house and spoke to her. The cops also questioned the victim’s elder sister, who was evasive in her responses, sources said.
