Apoorva Mukhija recalls witnessing gender bias at home: ‘My mother did it all, but father got credit for showing up at PTMs’ |

Content creator Apoorva Mukhija recently opened up about the gender bias she witnessed growing up. She reflected on how her mother’s tireless efforts in raising her and her brother often went unacknowledged, while her father received praise for minimal involvement, like simply attending parent-teacher meetings. In an interview with The Quint, Apoorva shared that her mother faced constant underappreciation and struggled with low self-worth, despite doing everything for the family. She recalled how even small gestures from her father—like attending parent-teacher meetings—were met with praise, while her mother’s everyday sacrifices went largely unnoticed. She further highlighted how it was her mother who managed everything behind the scenes—feeding the kids, helping with studies, handling school runs, and attending every PTM without fail. Yet, she noted the irony of her mother praising her father for doing the bare minimum, saying, “Oh my god, he has done so much.”Apoorva also pointed out that while her mother never truly acknowledged her own hard work, she consistently encouraged her daughter to know her worth and never settle for less—breaking the cycle of self-neglect she had silently endured. On the work front, Apoorva was last seen in the reality show The Traitors, hosted by Karan Johar. The series features 20 popular personalities from various fields competing in a gripping game of strategy, trust, and betrayal, all for a grand cash prize and the coveted title.
