Kidney transplant patient misses flight, Eknath Shinde offers seat on chartered plane from Jalgaon to Mumbai
Eknath Shinde, the Deputy Chief Minister, stepped in to help a kidney transplant patient from Jalgaon who missed her flight to Mumbai. Shinde arranged for her to travel on his chartered plane late Friday night.

NASHIK: A kidney transplant patient from Jalgaon district received assistance from deputy chief Minister Eknath Shinde after she missed her flight to Mumbai. The deputy CM arranged for her travel on board his chartered plane from Jalgaon airport late on Friday night. Shinde, who flew into Jalgaon, was to fly back to Mumbai but was delayed due to a programme at Muktainagar that went on a bit longer. By the time he arrived at the airport, the pilot’s flying hours were over. Alternate arrangements for a stay at Jalgaon or even arranging for another pilot from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar were being discussed. Just then, WRD Minister Girish Mahajan received a request from the patient requiring assistance in her travel to Mumbai by road before midnight to get the kidney transplant done, said Collector Jalgaon, Ayush Prasad. Citing the importance, deputy chief minister Shinde and Mahajan quickly spoke to senior officials in civil aviation, got the medical check up done for both the pilot and co-pilot, which ensured the pilots could fly. Finally, the flight took off at about 9.50 pm on Friday night.
