When Maadhavi recalled Amitabh Bachchan’s perfectionism and humility on Agneepath set: ‘Unke liye chhota scene bhi utna hi important hota hai’ |

Actress Maadhavi, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, once recounted her experiences working alongside Amitabh Bachchan in an old interview. Having shared screen space in notable films such as ‘Andha Kanoon’, ‘Geraftaar’, and ‘Agneepath’, the actress revealed her initial surprise when Bachchan, already a superstar, agreed to star opposite her, then a newcomer, in ‘Andha Kanoon’.During her conversation with Lehren Retro, Maadhavi described Amitabh Bachchan as a thorough professional with an unparalleled commitment to his craft. She praised his dedication, stating, “Woh jo bhi karte hain, lagan se karte hain. Jo hamari normal mentality hoti hai, ki agar koi chhota sa scene hai ya light scene hai toh hum usmein zyada effort nahi karte. Lekin jab Amit ji kaam karte hain, unke liye chhota scene bhi utna hi important hota hai jitna ki dramatic scene. (Whatever he does, he does with full dedication. Our usual mindset is that if a scene is small or light, we don’t put in much effort. But for Amit ji, even a small scene is just as important as a dramatic one.)” Her thoughts highlighted his meticulous approach, treating every part of a scene with equal importance.Revolutionizing her understanding of dubbingMaadhavi also credited Amitabh Bachchan with transforming her understanding of film dubbing. She admitted, “Until I saw him dubbing, I was under the impression that dubbing was just an extension of your acting. But I never realised that you could improve your performance in the dubbing.” She recalled observing Bachchan dubbing for ‘Andha Kanoon’, where his modulation and improvements in front of the mic were “incredible.” Maadhavi gratefully acknowledged his influence, saying, “If I’m able to speak properly today or know anything about modulation… it’s all thanks to him.”Humility and inspiring presenceBeyond his acting prowess, Madhavi found working with Amitabh Bachchan to be a deeply enriching experience, quietly observing him on set to learn not just about acting but also humility. She noted his ability to keep the atmosphere lively and make everyone comfortable. “Woh sabko hasate rehte hain… when he is on the set, the atmosphere is very lively. He never made me or anyone on the set realise he is a superstar. He was very modest and humble,” she shared, illustrating his down-to-earth nature despite his superstar status.
