INDORE: A 45-year-old tribal woman was allegedly gangraped and brutally tortured, leading to her death in Khandwa district on Saturday afternoon.DIG Siddharth Bahuguna said, “Two men have been arrested.”Police said that the woman, a mother of two from a tribal community, was found in a severely injured and unconscious state in a neighbour’s courtyard in a village under Khalwa police station limits on Saturday afternoon.Locals said that the woman was subjected to extreme sexual violence to an extent that say she lay there bleeding heavily and that her uterus was visibly protruding. They suggested that possibly a rod or wooden object was used to torture her. She was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to her injuries around 2pm.“The accused had tortured the woman and had damaged her private parts,” said Bahuguna.According to police, the woman had left home on Saturday morning to attend a wedding in the village. She was last seen with two men known to her—Hari and Sunil—who were also at the wedding. Later, she reportedly went to Hari’s house with the two men, where they consumed alcohol. It is alleged that the two then committed the assault. The woman was later found unconscious in a neighbour’s courtyard. The neighbour told police that the woman came over feeling dizzy and asked to lie down, after which she lost consciousness.Preliminary medical examinations revealed severe injuries to her private parts.The case has been registered, and both men, identified as acquaintances of the victim, were arrested. A detailed postmortem examination was conducted at the district hospital on Sunday under the supervision of forensic experts and a panel of doctors from the medical college.
