Bombay HC grants Maharashtra Govt time to respond to petition in Disha Salian death case

The Bombay High Court has granted the Maharashtra government time until June 15 to file a response to a petition by Satish Salian, the father of late celebrity manager Disha Salian.
Salian had filed the petition last month, requesting the registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and asking for the investigation into his daughter’s death to be transferred to the CBI.
Disha, a celebrity manager who worked with high-profile clients like actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Malad. The Mumbai Police initially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) for the case.
Her demise got tangled into the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who passed away six days later, on June 14. The actor was found hanging at his Bandra home, which led to widespread speculation surrounding both deaths.

During a hearing on Wednesday, a bench of Justices SV Kotwal and SM Modak gave the Maharashtra government time until June 15 to file a response to Satish Salian’s petition.
In the petition, Salian claimed that his daughter, Disha, was “brutally raped and murdered” and that her death was part of a political cover-up to protect influential people. He also accused the Mumbai Police of hastily closing the case as a suicide or accidental death without properly considering forensic evidence, circumstantial proof, and eyewitness testimonies.
