In 2 raids, cops seize drugs worth Rs 23 lakh | Goa News

Panaji/Ponda: In two different raids, Goa police seized drugs worth Rs 23 lakh, and arrested three persons.
The anti-narcotic cell (ANC) on Monday conducted a raid at Patto, Panaji, and arrested Raviraj Rivonkar, 26, a resident of Verna and Lingu Donur, 35, a resident of Margao, for allegedly being in possession of 170g of hydroponic weed worth Rs 17 lakh.
A car used by the accused was also seized.
DySP, ANC, Nerlon Albuquerque, said that efforts are in progress to identify the source from where the drugs were procured by the two men. Rivonkar and Donur were produced before the court, and remanded to two-day police custody.
On Sunday, acting on a tip off, Ponda police arrested Benefito Fernandes, a resident from Poinguinim, for allegedly being caught with 6.3kg ganja worth Rs 6.3 lakh.
Ponda police, said Fernandes was arrested from Borim while he was waiting for a prospective customer.
