Former Pakistan coach’s pay dispute heats up; PCB issues strong statement | Cricket News

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified that Australian Jason Gillespie, who stepped down as head coach of Pakistan’s red-ball team in December last year, has not been denied any payments, contrary to claims made in recent media reports.
Responding to these reports—which suggest that the former Australian fast bowler has approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is exploring legal options over alleged unpaid dues—a PCB source said the board has “done nothing out of contractual obligations.”
“There was a clear contract between the board and Gillespie and the PCB is only acting on what is laid down in the contract,” the source stated.
The source further mentioned that all remuneration-related matters are being managed by the PCB’s legal department in accordance with the terms of the contract.

Gillespie, however, has reportedly claimed that the PCB still owes him certain payments, including bonuses for winning a home Test series against England and an ODI series in Australia.
According to media reports, Gillespie has also reached out to the World Cricketers’ Association (WCA) and is considering legal action against the PCB.
“He didn’t give the required notice period as laid down in the contract and we are acting as per our agreement with him,” the source added.
Gillespie and Gary Kirsten were appointed as head coaches for the red-ball and white-ball formats respectively in April last year on two-year contracts. However, both coaches resigned within 7–8 months, citing concerns over their authority within the PCB setup.
Following their departures, Aaqib Javed was named interim head coach for both formats.
