Mayawati criticises Samajwadi party for failing Dalit welfare and rights in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: BSP National President Mayawati on Sunday criticised the Samajwadi Party for denying Dalits their constitutional rights and lacking the willpower for their welfare and development.
She said that the Samajwadi Party, like Congress, BJP, and others, can never be the true well-wisher of Dalits-Bahujans because of the flaw in its policies and intentions. “But they will always keep on deceiving Dalits and Bahujans for the sake of their votes. BSP, on the contrary, is committed and struggling to make Bahujan the ruling class.”
In a series of posts on X, she said that, forget about working in the interest of and for the welfare and development of Dalits by giving them their constitutional rights, the Samajwadi Party, like Congress and BJP, lacks the concern and willpower to lift them out of poverty and end the atrocities, injustice, and caste-based discrimination against them. “The reason why these people were miles away from the mainstream.”
She also brought up the 1995 guest house incident in Lucknow and said that the Samajwadi Party betrayed BSP, making a fatal attack on its leadership on June 2, tearing the promotion-in-reservation bill in parliament, and changing the names of districts, parks, educational and medical colleges which were built in honour of their (Dalit’s) saints, teachers, and icons. These are such staunchly casteist acts that cannot be forgiven.
“While BSP was successful to a great extent in its mission to create an egalitarian society and brotherhood among the ‘sarvasamaj’ (all the communities), the Samajwadi Party is out to destroy it by all means to fulfil its narrow political interests,” said the BSP chief, adding that people need to be vigilant.
