2 drivers dead, 4 injured as goods trains operated by NTPC collide head-on in Jharkhand

NEWS DELHI: Two people were killed and four others injured when two goods trains collided in Jharkhand’s Sahebganj district early Tuesday, police said.
The collision between the two trains, operated by power major NTPC, occurred around 3 am near Bhognadih in the Barhait police station area.
The incident took place on NTPC-owned tracks, which are primarily utilised for coal transportation to their power facilities.
“The drivers of both the goods trains were killed in the head-on collision,” confirmed sub-divisional police officer of Sahebganj Kishore Tirkey said.
Eastern Railway spokesperson Kausik Mitra clarified, “The goods trains and the track both belong to the NTPC. It has nothing to do with the Indian Railways.”
The railway line where the accident occurred connects NTPC’s Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Station in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district with their Farakka Power Plant situated in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district.
