Shocking Case of 13-Year-Old Raped by Father in Ludhiana: A Call for Justice | Ludhiana News
LUDHIANA: Ludhiana police registered a case on Tuesday against a man accused of raping his 13-year-old daughter while they were alone at home.
The incident came to light after the girl informed her mother, who was away in Delhi at the time.
A case has been registered under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The FIR was filed based on a complaint by the girl’s mother.
According to the complaint, the mother had travelled to her sister’s house in Delhi on 21 March, leaving her husband and daughter at home. On 22 March, the girl borrowed a phone from neighbours to call her mother and revealed that her father had raped her the previous night. She urged her mother to return home immediately.
The mother stated, “I immediately called my husband and asked about it, to which he admitted to assaulting our daughter and apologised for the same. By March 23, I returned home and again talked to my husband about it. He again apologised and left the house. Since then, he has not returned home.”
SI Jasbir Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that an FIR was filed as soon as the complaint was received. The accused, a resident of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, remains on the run, and underway to trace him.
Repeated cases of family abuse reported
This is not an isolated case, as several incidents of women and minors being assaulted by family members have been reported.
September 7, 2024: Salem Tabri police arrested a 45-year-old man for molesting the 10-year-old daughter of his live-in partner. The woman witnessed the incident and raised an alarm. The accused initially escaped but was later caught.
April 6, 2024: A man was arrested by Dehlon police for repeatedly raping his stepdaughter and impregnating her. The 20-year-old victim filed a complaint, leading to his arrest.
April 16, 2023: Shimlapuri police arrested a man who had been sexually assaulting his live-in partner’s daughter for five years, starting in 2018. The girl, too afraid to speak up, wrote her ordeal on paper, which her sister later discovered, leading to the police action.
Police continue their efforts to bring perpetrators to justice and urge victims to come forward without fear.
