Fire breaks out at Raj Bhandar sweet shop in Nagpur

NAGPUR: A fire broke out at Raj Bhandar, a sweet shop in Pratap Nagar, due to a blast in the air compressor of a deep freezer on Friday morning.
No casualties were reported as the shop was closed at the time of the incident.
According to officiating chief fire officer BP Chandankhede, the fire was reported at around 10:35 am, and fire tenders from nearby Trimurti Nagar fire station reached the spot within minutes. The fire department managed to bring the blaze under control by 12.10 pm.
While there was significant damage to the shop’s interiors, including air conditioning units, furniture, and electrical fittings, the timely response of the fire brigade prevented the flames from spreading to nearby establishments.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire started due to a technical malfunction in the deep freezer’s air compressor, which led to a blast. The intensity of the fire caused substantial losses, estimated at around Rs20 lakh, while property worth Rs30 lakh was saved due to swift firefighting efforts.
Officials from the fire department and Pratap Nagar police station inspected the site and recorded statements. Further investigation is underway to assess the full extent of the damage.
