Aamir Khan confirms Andaz Apna Apna 2 with Salman Khan: 'Rajkumar Santoshi is working on the script'

Aamir Khan recently confirmed that work on Andaz Apna Apna 2 has begun, stating that he and his former co-star Salman Khan are eager to collaborate on the sequel. The 1994 comedy Andaz Apna Apna, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, may have underperformed at the box office during its initial release, but it has since achieved cult status. Starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Shakti Kapoor, the film is cherished for its unique humor, memorable dialogues, and iconic characters.
“We would all want Andaz Apna Apna 2. We have told Raj ji (director Rajkumar Santoshi) to work on the script. As soon as his script is ready, Salman and I would definitely want to work on it. I think the audience would love to watch Andaz Apna Apna 2… Raj ji is working on the script,” Aamir shared with the media during his 60th birthday celebration.
On Wednesday night, Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were spotted at Aamir’s residence. While Shah Rukh managed to avoid the paparazzi by staying behind his security team, Salman was seen exiting the premises alongside Aamir.

During a recent media interaction, Aamir also reflected on some major films he had turned down, which later became successful with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in the lead roles. While discussing Darr, he mentioned that although he was initially cast, he eventually stepped away from the project for reasons beyond creative differences. He acknowledged that Yash Chopra’s vision for the character was better suited for Shah Rukh Khan, and in hindsight, he felt it was the right decision as the film became both critically and commercially successful.
Additionally, Aamir shared that when he was approached with the script for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he believed that Salman Khan would be a better fit for the role. He advised the writer to take the project to Salman, though it eventually reached director Kabir Khan before Salman ultimately came on board. Similarly, he recalled that director Rajkumar Hirani had initially considered him for Munna Bhai, but by the time he was approached, the film had evolved into a sequel, and the lead role had already been finalized.

On the work front, Aamir Khan is gearing up for his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, a thematic sequel to his 2007 directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par. The film, directed by RS Prasanna, is slated for a June release. Unlike the first film, which focused on a single child struggling with dyslexia, this sequel will follow ten special individuals, with Aamir playing an antagonist.
“It is many steps ahead of Taare Zameen Par. This time, the story revolves around ten protagonists who are special in their own way, while I play the antagonist,” Aamir explained.
