Pakistan train attacked, terror angle suspected

Pakistan on Tuesday received reports of intense firing at a Peshawar-bound train prompting local administration to take “emergency measures”, Dawn reported. The authorities suspect a terror angle in the incident.
The driver of the Jaffar Express was injured after the train was attacked in Balochistan’s Mach area, according to railway sources cited by ARY News.
“There are reports of intense firing at a Jaffar Express [train] between Peerokanri and Gadalar, which was heading from Quetta to Peshawar,” Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said in a statement.
It further said that the incident might be a potential act of terrorism.
This comes after nine people were killed and 25 suffered injuries in a suicide attack by a military group that drove two explosive-laden cars into a Pakistani army compound last week.
Officials had reported that the twin suicide bombings targeted a military facility in Bannu, northwest Pakistan, with the attackers detonating themselves to breach the wall.
“After a breach in the wall, five to six more attackers attempted to enter the cantonment but were eliminated. Operations in the area are still ongoing,” Pakistani army had said.
