Gangster Aman Sahu killed in police encounter in Jharkhand’s Palamu | Ranchi News

RANCHI: Jharkhand police on Tuesday gunned down notorious gangster Aman Sahu, who became a challenge for the state police in recent years.
Sources said that he was killed in an encounter in Palamu district in Jharkhand, bordering Chhattisgarh. He was being brought to Ranchi from Raipur jail in Chhattisgarh for questioning in connection to the recent incidents of firing on businessmen and those engaged in coal mining works for levy.
On Saturday, a DGM of NTPC, Kumar Gaurav, was killed by unidentified criminals in Hazaribag. A day before, a prominent coal trader was shot at in Ranchi. While the investigations are currently underway, police sources said that the role of the Aman Sahu gang is also under the radar. Notably, Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta on Monday told reporters that a handful of hardcore criminals in jail are operating gangs.
Sources said that a vehicle of the police team, which was bringing Aman from Raipur, first met with an accident under Rampur police station in Palamu this morning, after which the criminal’s gang members launched an attack on the police team. “In retaliation, he was gunned down,” said a source.
While the state police are still to officially issue a statement, senior officials in police headquarters have confirmed the developments.
