Lady Gaga Humorously Responds to Razzie Win for ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ on SNL |

Lady Gaga made a triumphant return to Saturday Night Live, serving as both the host and musical guest for the latest episode. The multi-talented artist didn’t shy away from cracking jokes at her own expense, particularly when it came to her role in ‘Joker: Folie a Deux,’ which recently earned some less-than-flattering recognition.
During her monologue, Gaga playfully referenced the film’s disappointing box office performance and its multiple nominations at the Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies. “I take my acting career seriously,” she began. “That’s why I choose projects that truly showcase my range—like ‘Joker 2.’ And guess what? Joaquin and I were so good together, we won an award. Worst Onscreen Duo at the Razzies.”
The pop icon, known for her ability to turn any situation into a victory, added, “But joke’s on them. I love winning things. My Razzie puts me one step closer to an EGORT—it’s like an EGOT, but much more painful.”
According to Variety, ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ received seven Razzie nominations in total, ultimately taking home two, including Worst Sequel. The film, which had high expectations following the success of its 2019 predecessor, struggled to find its audience, leading to a harsh reception from both critics and audiences.
Gaga didn’t stop there. She doubled down on the humor, reassuring fans, “Tonight, I promise to act, to sing, and to never, ever do Joker 3.”
Beyond her movie jokes, Gaga also reflected on her return to SNL, marking more than a decade since her last time hosting in 2013. “You might think I’m here to promote my new album ‘Mayhem,’ but actually I’m just here to remind everyone that I’m an incredible actress,” she quipped.
The SNL monologue took a satirical turn as Gaga poked fun at the music industry’s shifting landscape. “The last time I hosted this show, I was 27. Now, I’m 38 which as we all know is scientifically the best age for a female pop star,” she joked. Then in a jab at industry ageism, she added, “Chappell Roan is 58, Charli XCX is 75, and Tate McRae is my actual grandmother.”
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Gaga also made a subtle but pointed reference to a controversial past performance. “I’m thrilled to be back at SNL. My last time here was in 2013, and every part of that performance aged beautifully,” she said, before cheekily warning, “So there’s no need to Google ‘SNL 2013 Lady Gaga featuring R. Kelly.’ I won’t bring it up because that would be bad.”
Later in the episode, Gaga took to the stage to perform new songs from her upcoming album, including ‘Abracadabra’ and ‘Killah.’
The night’s cold open as covered by The New York Times, also made headlines, taking aim at a recent high-profile dispute between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and billionaire Elon Musk, who, in this fictional scenario, had been appointed as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration.
Veteran comedian Mike Myers returned to SNL to portray Musk in a bizarre and hilarious skit that featured James Austin Johnson’s spot-on impersonation of former President Donald Trump. In the sketch, Trump attempted to mediate a heated argument between Musk and Rubio, only for the discussion to spiral into absurdity.
“I can’t have you two at each other’s throats,” Johnson’s Trump insisted. “After all, I have a perfect track record. Everyone who’s ever worked for me has left on good terms and then gone on to write a book called The Man Who Ruined Everything.”
Myers’ Musk in classic outlandish fashion, responded to Rubio’s complaints with a childish retort before breaking into an awkward dance. “I know you are, but what am I?” he smirked.
As the sketch wrapped up, Trump delivered one of his signature rambling conclusions. “So, to summarize: One, America’s the bad guy now. Two, Marco, fix your budget. Three, Elon, stay in your lane. You’re not the boss.”
