Rohit Shetty’s residence firing case has seen a major breakthrough, with Mumbai Police tracing the Honda Dio scooter used in the attack to a Pune resident. According to police, the Pune man had sold the scooter to accused Aditya Gayaki for ₹30,000 just days before the incident and had taken his signature on a blank sheet of paper during the sale, reports ANI.
Accused in Rohit Shetty case acted on Lonkar’s instructions
According to an ANI report, accused Aditya Gayaki and another arrested individual, Samarth Pomaji, had left the scooter at a predetermined spot in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The duo were acting under the direct instructions of Shubham Lonkar. Police revealed that the accused had no knowledge of the shooter’s identity during the period from purchasing the vehicle to transporting it to Mumbai. It was Lonkar who directed the shooter to collect the scooter from the given location and execute the firing. A similar modus operandi has been followed in previous crimes, where several small groups are employed for a single crime, the report added.
Five arrested in Rohit Shetty firing case produced in court
Meanwhile, five people who were detained in connection to the case have been presented before the Criminal Court.
Rohit Shetty case accused deny links to Bishnoi gang
In a statement to ANI, the defence lawyer for the accused asserted that his clients have no links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and are unaware of the firing incident. He further mentioned that the police have been granted a four-day custody of the accused, who are willing to fully cooperate with the investigation.
Four rounds fired outside Rohit Shetty’s residence
According to police officials, four shots were fired outside the residence of the Bollywood filmmaker on Sunday. Following the incident, heavy police security was stationed around Rohit Shetty’s residential tower in the Juhu area. Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and conducted a thorough examination. Officials confirmed that an investigation is in progress, with all possible angles being pursued to identify those involved in the firing. No injuries were reported in the episode.
