Mohanlal on ‘Udaynanu Tharam’ re-release
‘Udayananu Tharam’, the debut directorial of Rosshan Andrrews was originally released in 2005. Written by Sreenivasan, the film was a blockbuster and is still one of the most loved films. In a video message shared earlier, Mohanlal described ‘Udayananu Tharam’ as one of Sreenivasan’s finest screenplays and invited audiences and families to revisit it in theatres. As Sreenivasan passed away a month ago, fans of the actor are also hoping to see him on the big screen one last time. Rosshan Andrrews, who marked his debut as a filmmaker, penned an emotional note on Sreenivasan’s demise. “Your script made me a filmmaker. We travelled together for five unforgettable years to make the ‘Udayananutharam ‘ movie. Even after 20 years, the film continues to live in the hearts of true cinema lovers. To me, it remains the only truly inspirational film about a filmmaker.”The film revolves around Udayabhanu (Mohanlal), an aspiring filmmaker whose screenplay is stolen by a friend, Rajappan Thengamoodu (Sreenivasan). Rajappan becomes a superstar in exchange for the stolen script. The film also showed a satirical perspective of superstars and a rather realistic portrayal of the film industry in general. The film had an ensemble cast of Meena, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mukesh, and Salim Kumar in some pivotal roles. Cochin Haneefa, Janardhanan, Bhavana, Indrans, TP Madhavan, Anand, and filmmaker AK Lohithadas. ‘Udayananu Tharam’ will re-release in the cinemas on February 6.
