‘Bhoot Police 2’ is underway with Priyadarshan directing and earning ₹21 crore. The sequel drops Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor for a new pairing. Meanwhile, Priyadarshan’s next, ‘Haiwaan’, reunites Akshay Kumar and Saif after Tashan. Produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, ‘Haiwaan’ is slated for a 2026 release.

The sequel to the 2021 horror-comedy ‘Bhoot Police’ is on its way, with the project now officially in development. Renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan has come on board to direct, promising a new and exciting approach to the story. The makers aim to bring a fresh touch to the franchise while keeping its trademark mix of fun and chills intact.

Priyadarshan’s fee and cast update for ‘Bhoot Police 2

According to Pinkvilla, ‘Bhoot Police 2’ is officially in development, and Priyadarshan will direct the sequel. The filmmaker is charging a fee of Rs. 21 crore for the project. While the sequel retains the core idea of a horror-comedy, the casting will see a complete refresh. Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor will not be returning for the second installment. Instead, the makers are planning to introduce a new pairing that can bring a fresh energy to the franchise.

‘Bhoot Police 2’ to feature a new duo

As per the reports, the idea is to reinvent the franchise with a new duo. The makers are looking at two actors, one senior and one junior to create an interesting combo. It’s a proper horror comedy, staying true to the genre but more of a theatrical treatment. The film is expected to go on floors by the end of the year, once the casting is locked and pre-production is wrapped up.

Priyadarshan’s next after ‘Bhoot Police 2’: ‘Haiwaan’ with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan

After years apart, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are all set to reunite on screen for an upcoming horror thriller titled ‘Haiwaan’. Ever since its announcement, the film has been creating strong buzz among fans. Interestingly, director Priyadarshan had originally wanted to bring Amitabh Bachchan on board but wasn’t able to make it happen. In an earlier chat with Rediff, Priyadarshan revealed, “I have never been able to collaborate with writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair, and I have never been able to work with Mr Bachchan. Many times, we came very close to working together, but somehow the projects never materialised. For one reason or another, the films we were meant to do together fell through.”

‘Haiwaan’ reunites Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar

‘Haiwaan’ brings Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar together once again after their 2010 film ‘Khatta Meetha’, with the duo also collaborating on ‘Bhooth Bangla’. The ‘Oppam’ remake also marks the reunion of Akshay and Saif on screen after their 2008 film ‘Tashan’. Produced by Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions and Shailaja Desai Fenn of Thespian Films, the movie will also feature Saiyami Kher in a key role. It is slated for release in 2026.
