Republic Day 2026: Gujarat tourist paints body in Tricolour, waves flag and chants at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk | Srinagar News
SRINAGAR: A tourist from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad celebrated Republic Day at the iconic Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk on Monday by painting himself in the colours of the Tricolour, carrying a miniature model of BrahMos, waving the national flag and raising slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai”.The tourist, identified as Arun, said he has been visiting Srinagar continuously since 2022 and extended Republic Day greetings to people across the country.“I extend greetings to everyone on the occasion of Republic Day. I have been coming here continuously since 2022. From here, I would like to give a message to the Government of India and PM Modi that today’s youth don’t just dream but see dreams becoming reality. Hoisting and waving the Tiranga here used to be a challenge. Narendra Modi ji was the first to hoist the Tiranga here when the situation wasn’t good. I have been coming here alone since 2022 and waving the Tiranga,” Arun said.
