Filthy water? 75-year-old retired teacher dies in Indore; 3rd such death in 4 days | Indore News
INDORE : A 75-year-old retired teacher who led protests against filthy drinking water in Indore’s Bhagiratrhpura died on Sunday, the third such death in four days coinciding with an apparent mismatch between official casualty counts of the tragedy in the past month and govt compensation cheques. While Rajaram Bourasi’s family and residents attributed his death to contaminated water, officials cited “co-morbidities” such as high blood pressure and diabetes as the cause. His death fuelled fresh panic and a fierce political row in BJP-governed MP, with opposition Congress accusing the govt of “poisoning citizens”. “The negligence, corruption, and arrogance of the BJP govt claimed the lives of 28 innocent people by serving them poisonous water. @drmohanyadav51 (Dr Mohan Yadav), what was the crime of these 28 people that your govt gave them poison in their water?” state Congress president Jitu Patwari wrote on X, referring to chief minister Mohan Yadav.
