Zubeen Garg death: Wife Garima seeks Centre, Assam govt intervention; urges diplomatic push in Singapore court probe | Guwahati News
GUWAHATI: Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg’s wife Garima Saikia Garg appealed Thursday to the Centre and Assam govt to closely monitor proceedings before the coroner’s court in Singapore and take urgent diplomatic and legal steps to ensure all facts surrounding the singer’s death are placed on record. In a Facebook post, she also urged authorities to pursue prosecution in India “without delay or dilution”. Garg died in Singapore during a yacht trip on Sept 19 last year, a day before he was to perform at North East Festival.Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declined to comment on the Singapore hearings. “Whatever you have read in the media, I have also read the same. The matter is being handled entirely under Singapore’s legal process which is different from the process underway in Assam,” Sarma said, adding that politicians should maintain distance from matters under judicial consideration.
