‘O’Romeo’: Hussain Ustara’s daughter Sanober Shaikh slaps makers with Rs 2 crore notice and 7-day ultimatum – Reports | Hindi Movie News
‘O’Romeo’ has landed in trouble after the film’s producers were served a legal notice by Hussain Ustara’s daughter, Sanober Shaikh. She has objected to a potentially negative depiction of her father in the movie and has demanded Rs. 2 crores in damages. The notice also calls for this amount to be paid within a period of seven days.
Notice details
According to Bollywood Hungama, the letter has been addressed to producer Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and director Vishal Bhardwaj last week. It claims that ‘O’Romeo’ probably shows Hussain Ustara in a bad light, thereby impacting the family’s reputation. Hence, she has asked for Rs. 2 crores for the same. Along with the monetary demand, Sanober has also reportedly requested the makers to halt or cancel the film’s release until her concerns are addressed to her satisfaction.
Rumors and teaser
While the issue has stirred some discussion, the ‘O’Romeo’ team has not officially confirmed any basis in real people. Rumors have persisted for a while, suggesting inspiration from Hussain Ustara and Sapna Didi stories. The January 10 teaser does state it’s drawn from true events. How the makers react, through a statement, legal action, or silence until release, remains to be seen.
Cast and release
‘O’Romeo’ features Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Farida Jalal, Vikrant Massey, Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Aruna Irani, Hussain Dalal, Resh Lamba and Rahul Deshpande. Interestingly, it marks the fourth association of Shahid and director Vishal Bhardwaj after ‘Kaminey’ (2009), ‘Haider’ (2014) and ‘Rangoon’ (2017). It is all set to release in cinemas on February 13.
