‘The Raja Saab’ beats Baahubali- The Beginning’s day 1 Hindi collection but is Prabhas’s 3rd lowest opening | Hindi Movie News
Post the success of Baahubali franchise- Prabhas went on to become one of the biggest superstars in the country, his films might work or not but they always took a huge opening. Take his current film The Raja Saab for example,on its opening day the film has taken a massive start of Rs 54.15 crore and from its premiere shows the film had already earned Rs 9.15 crore. And with that the total collection of the film stood at Rs 63.3 crore. A closer look at the Day 1 numbers reveals that the major collection for the film came from its Telugu version , while it’s Hindi version contributed just Rs 6.15 crore. In isolation the number looks weak but for the record books the number is significant on a various counts. Firstly the film has gone past Baahubali- The Beginning’s Day 1 Hindi collection of Rs 5.15 crore. Given how The Raja Saab was made a pawn between Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic leading to advance booking of its Hindi release starting only few hours before the shows began- the number looks good. But when the number is compared to the Prabhas’s record over the last 10 years- the trend looks worrisome. For the record The Raja Saab is the third lowest Day 1 collection for a Prabhas film since the success of Baahubali series. His lowest collection was Radhe Shyam which had collected Rs 4.8 crore in Hindi. Yes Baahubali- The Beginning had earned around Rs 5 crore but it went on to mints over Rs 100 crore in Hindi but looks dicey in the case of The Raja Saab as critics and fans has panned the film and that effect is most likely to be seen over the weekend, Prabhas’s films are a bench mark when it comes the south films releasing in Hindi. Baahubali 2 had a record-shattering Rs 41 crore opening day. Adipurush followed with Rs 37.25 crore, Kalki 2898 AD delivered Rs 22.5 crore, Saaho clocked Rs 24.40 crore, while Salaar collected Rs 15.75 crore on day one in Hindi.Prabhas is currently working with Sandeep Reddy Vanga on Spirit with Triptii Dimri.
