Cher recently opened up about her relationship with David Geffen, whom she dated back in the ’70s. While the latter came out as gay during an event about AIDS in 1992, their relationship was still based on real feelings for one another.

Cher and David Geffen were a big hit couple in the 70s, and dated for approximately two years. While featuring on Dax Shepard’s podcast, ‘Armchair Expert’, the singer and actress addressed her relationship with Geffen, saying that at the time, they were right for each other.She further added that, “Honestly, it’s a different thing because he had never been in love with anybody. So I was the first person that he had real feelings for. We had a special arrangement when we met.” The conversation started after the topic of her former roommate, Sonny Bono, was struck, who was also a gay person. She further added that Geffen was a wonderful human being and that the two had maintained a close friendship even after they both went their own ways in life.
Cher once talked to David Geffen about marriage
In another older interview given to Extra, Cher shared that she and Geffen had even considered getting married. She, however, at the time had recently gotten out of another marriage and was terrified of the idea. “I just had been married! I was just so frightened of it. At that point in his life, I was the right person for him,” she said.
