Every Punjab family to get Rs 10 lakh medical cover from Jan 15 | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: Punjab govt will on Jan 15 roll out Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which will provide cashless medical insurance of up to Rs 10 lakh to each family in the state. Health minister Balbir Singh said the scheme significantly expanded health protection from the earlier Rs 5 lakh coverage, which was limited to specific categories. “The new scheme aims to provide cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per family per year to all residents of Punjab, including govt employees and pensioners,” he said. “The beneficiaries can access secondary and tertiary care across a robust network of 824 empanelled hospitals, which includes 212 public hospitals, eight govt of India hospitals, and over 600 private hospitals. The number of empanelled hospitals is expected to increase as the scheme progresses,” he added. The scheme will be launched by CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. Executive director of the insurance company and Punjab state health agency CEO Sanyam Aggarwal signed the agreement on Friday.
