Prabhas’ ‘Spirit’ Secures ₹150 Crore OTT Rights: A Major Win for Telugu Cinema |
Prabhas is working on his upcoming cop action drama ‘Spirit’ with the ‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie is one of the most anticipated films and as the trend follows with big-ticket films securing an OTT deal early in their making, it seems that this upcoming film has struck gold as well.
OTT rights sold for a massive deal
According to a report by OTTPlay, the digital streaming rights of ‘Spirit’ have been locked for a staggering Rs 150 crore. While the name of the streaming platform is still being kept confidential, the deal is officially sealed, meaning nearly half of the film’s total budget has already been recovered through digital rights alone.
If the reports are believed to be true, OTT rights of the film have been sold for a record-breaking price, making it one of the highest ever deals for a Telugu film with the likes of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. As per Sacnilk, the OTT rights of the Allu Arjun starrer were sold for an estimated Rs 275 crore and on the other hand, the mythological sci-fi collected over Rs 375 crore after a deal with two different OTT platforms.
Shoot underway in Hyderabad
The report also suggests that the shooting of ‘Spirit’ has commenced in Hyderabad with Prabhas and several junior artists currently filming. After the massive success of ‘Animal’ and ‘Kabir Singh’, expectations from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s next film are high.
Prabhas to play a cop for the first time
In the film, Prabhas will be seen playing the character of a cop for the first time ever. His character will be a fierce and intense one. Opposite him, ‘Animal’ fame Tripti Dimri will be seen playing the female lead. Prakash Raj, Vivek Oberoi and others will also be seen in key roles.Harshavardhan Rameshwar is composing the tunes.
