After poll debacle, RJD begins review of party’s performance

Patna: The RJD on Wednesday started a detailed review of the party’s performance in the just-held assembly elections. The review followed the party’s crushing setback in the polls where the RJD was able to win only 25 seats after contesting 143—a loss of 50 seats as compared to the 2020 assembly election. On the opening day, the party conducted a review of RJD’s performance in the Magadh division with the party candidates, ex-MLAs and the party presidents. The review meeting took place under the chairmanship of state party president Manganilal Mandal.

“This was an internal review meeting which will continue till Dec 9,” state spokesperson Ejaz Ali Ahmad said, adding the review would continue division-wise in the next few days.Sources said during the review, the party took feedback from the workers about the booth-level reports, voting patterns, performance of allies, and the party’s outreach across different social groups among others.“The details gathered during the meeting will be analysed and presented before the party’s top leadership for further action,” Mandal told the reporters on Wednesday. The exercise, reports said, is aimed at diagnosing organisational weaknesses and strategic missteps which led to RJD’s electoral debacle. The party is trying to find out whether the electoral losses stemmed from internal coordination failures, flawed strategies, or broader organisational weaknesses.Sources said the party may consider major changes and take some tough decisions based on the findings of this internal review.
