Prathyusha's 23-year case takes a new turn; Supreme Court reserves final verdict, mystery deepens again
The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict in the 23-year-old case of actress Prathyusha’s death. Following fresh evidence and arguments, the bench postponed the final decision. Prathyusha died in 2002 after a suicide attempt with her boyfriend, Siddharth Reddy. Her mother maintains it was murder, not suicide, and awaits justice.

There has been a major breakthrough in the 23-year-old High Court case related to the death of actress Prathyusha. After hearing the arguments of all parties in the final hearing held on November 19, a bench comprising Supreme Court Justices Rajesh Bindal and Manmohan decided to postpone the verdict.

Fresh explanations and evidence prompt the bench

As per ABP Tamil report, the verdict is currently pending, as new explanations, evidence, and details of the long-running legal battle presented by both sides of the case all require careful examination. Prathyusha’s fans and family, who have been waiting for years for final justice in this case, are eagerly awaiting the next step.

Prathyusha’s rise in Tamil–Telugu cinema

Prathyusha, who made her debut in 1988 with the Telugu Superstar Mohan Babu, has garnered a unique following among fans despite her limited film appearances. She lost her father at a young age and was raised by her older brother. After participating in a beauty pageant and winning the title of “Miss Lovely Smile,” her smile became very popular among fans. Later, she acted in Tamil and Telugu films, including ‘Manu Neethi’, ‘Super Kuttam’, ‘Thavasi’, and ‘Kadam Pookkal’. The life of this rising star suddenly took a tragic turn.

The tragic relationship angle revives questions of suicide

The relationship between Prathyusha and her boyfriend Siddharth Reddy became the focal point of her death. Siddharth Reddy’s family strongly opposed their romance; it was said that the two attempted to commit suicide by consuming pesticide in 2002. While Siddharth survived, 22-year-old Prathyusha died on the way to the hospital. Doubts have persisted ever since as to whether this was actually suicide or a premeditated murder.

Court history, reduced sentence, and mother’s appeal

The Sessions Court later sentenced Siddharth to five years in prison on charges of abetment to suicide and attempted suicide. The High Court later reduced it to two years in 2011, and the fine was increased to Rs 50,000. Dissatisfied with this verdict, Prathyusha’s mother approached the Supreme Court in 2012, arguing that it was not suicide but premeditated murder. The case has since been under investigation in the Supreme Court. Now that the final verdict has been postponed, a new twist has emerged in the case, which has been pending for many years. Many people are waiting in the hope of seeing justice for Prathyusha’s death.
